Session One - The Great Apple Pie Quest
[2023/01/30 15:10] Sonja Bikergrrl: Ggrrreeeeetings adventurers, most players get a game of enjoyable DnD, you get a DM out to reduce you to quivering nervous wrecks.
[2023/01/30 15:10] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: We'd landed in the castle via either teleport or time-port
[2023/01/30 15:11] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: /me leans to Alicia, "Those sound like the same things."
[2023/01/30 15:11] Sonja Bikergrrl: You're in the castle, being escorted to Archmage Ridcully.
[2023/01/30 15:11] Alicia Frakture: There was porting of some sort
[2023/01/30 15:11] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: ...Ridcully.... what did you say the Queen's name was again?
[2023/01/30 15:12] Sonja Bikergrrl: They take you down a hallway or two, and one of them hammers on an oak door with a mailed fist.
[2023/01/30 15:12] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is looking around taking stock of the area
[2023/01/30 15:12] Sonja Bikergrrl: I didn't name the Queen yet - and it's the Princess, the Kings' daughter, named Remina
[2023/01/30 15:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: For a few minutes there's no sound, and the guards look at each other, and hammer on the door again. Finally, they give up waiting and push the door open. The Archmage is engrossed in a book. "Yes, yes? Who are you, what do you want?"
[2023/01/30 15:15] Alicia Frakture: *Can't resist*
[2023/01/30 15:15] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben looks around to examine what else is in this hallway in case they need to make a break for it.
[2023/01/30 15:15] Alicia Frakture: "Speedy mutton delivery, Someone order a shank and fries?"
[2023/01/30 15:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: Besides the numerous guards around you, there's no one else visible right now, running mightn't be the worlds' -best- idea.
[2023/01/30 15:17] Sonja Bikergrrl: The archmage looks at Leesha. "Mmmm, I ordered that? Put it on the desk there." One of the guards gives you a bat against the back of your head.
[2023/01/30 15:19] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Seeing that the guards are slow to answer, Debben steps forwards. "My associate and I were teleported into the castle by another mage. He claims it was a jump backwards in time, but my memories of it are... not very intact." When in doubt, honesty to avoid keeping track of poorly selected lies.
[2023/01/30 15:20] Alicia Frakture: Leesha can't help but smirk even with the bat to her head. "Yeah not actual delivery here."
[2023/01/30 15:20] Sonja Bikergrrl: Archmage: "Oh, yes, yes... the time traveling refugees from a plague, or something. A very curious story. Why are guards here? You can go. And you two, what of this plague?"
[2023/01/30 15:22] Alicia Frakture: Leesha just shrugs."No clue. All I remember was a few sick people and little bits here and there."
[2023/01/30 15:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: Once the guards have gone, the Archmage considers this. "Mmm. Well. There's no sign of any plague... a few outbreaks of pox here and there, nothing major. Maybe it won't happen, who can tell. No, I asked for you to be brought here for something else. We'll worry about the plague later, but I got a little job for you, if you're interested."
[2023/01/30 15:24] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Lots of running." She blinks. "Cloth masks stuffed with incense, barons making bloody decisions in a panic."
[2023/01/30 15:25] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Why do I get the impression we don't actually have the chance to decline?"
[2023/01/30 15:25] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Oh, you can decline if you so wish. But I was going to pay quite handsomely, but if you're not interested...?"
[2023/01/30 15:26] Alicia Frakture: Leesha perks."Pay? Hey not to be that half orc but I am kinda broke."
[2023/01/30 15:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "...if we're getting paid for it I'm willing to hear you out."
[2023/01/30 15:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: "You're interested? It shouldn't be too difficult. When I was a young boy, everyone knew Granny Weatherwaxs' Apple Pies were the best - and they were. Now if you could visit her shop and bring back some apple pies... I'll pay you 50gp each. Double that if you can find her secret recipie."
[2023/01/30 15:31] Alicia Frakture: Leesha raises an eyebrow."For pie? Pretty sure there is more to it but sounds like a job, but who and where is this Weatherwax lady?
[2023/01/30 15:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: "For pie, yes. More for the recipie. Her shop is in the Mirkwood forest, it got attacked and looted long ago. Probably just some minor demons there now, nothing you couldn't handle, I'm sure."
[2023/01/30 15:33] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "What exactly is a 'minor' demon? By who's standards of minor are we talking?"
[2023/01/30 15:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Oh, minor, fell creatures that infest the fringes of the Kingdom. I'm fairly sure there's no big demons there."
[2023/01/30 15:36] Alicia Frakture: Leesha sighs."So this place was attacked so now it is abandoned except for whatever has residence there. No promises on pie freshness but sure, I could do this." She looks a Debban."How about you?"
[2023/01/30 15:37] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Do you have something we can use to protect ourselves from any... medium demons that might happen to be lurking there for this pie run?"
[2023/01/30 15:38] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben is fairly sure that 'apple pie' is a euphemism of some sort, but unsure exactly what for.
[2023/01/30 15:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: "I'm fairly certain there's no really troublesome demons. I can't spare any items, but I'm sure the weaponsmiths will have something to trade."
[2023/01/30 15:39] Sonja Bikergrrl:

[2023/01/30 15:40] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Any features worth asking them for, specifically, Lord Ridcully?"
[2023/01/30 15:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Something sharp..? Maybe the guards can advise better, I know little of weapons."
[2023/01/30 15:43] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I mean in terms of dealing with demons. Is there some sort of metal or crystal they would dislike?"
[2023/01/30 15:43] Alicia Frakture: Hold up if we need supplies and weapons with our money situation we might need something pre job to get what we need.
[2023/01/30 15:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: "I suppose I could give you twenty gold to get started. But no more until you're back with pies!"
[2023/01/30 15:46] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at Debben, "Sound good to you? I've got my wrench and more a bash 'em type."
[2023/01/30 15:47] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I think we can make that work," she agrees. "And if you can write out some directions so we don't get lost on the way there?"
[2023/01/30 15:48] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It should be easy to find. Follow the road to the Ravens' Roost Inn, then take the Mirkwood trail, and you'll find her shop in the woods."
[2023/01/30 15:50] Alicia Frakture: Leesha shrugs."Sounds good to me. Have to say it would be nice to have a bit more control than whatever just happened to us
[2023/01/30 15:50] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I guess we'll find out as we go forwards."
[2023/01/30 15:52] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Excellent, excellent." He slides over two piles of gold coins. "Out the door you came in, go left, then right, and left again, that should take you to a small staff entrance to the city. The palace guards will know to bring you back here on your return."

[2023/01/30 15:54] Alicia Frakture: /me holsters her wrench and turns around."Pie it is. Shall we go?"
[2023/01/30 15:54] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben thanks the Archmage, and then looks to their companion. "I still wish he'd said something about what to use in case we find a minor demon. Pick up some holy water before we head out?"
[2023/01/30 15:55] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She also looks around, trying to determine how familiar this city looks to her.
[2023/01/30 15:56] Sonja Bikergrrl:
[It may be worth noting that to the general populace almost all creatures are unknown monsters and are referred to as "demons", whatever they are; they're unlikely to be actual bonafide -demons- from Hell]
[2023/01/30 15:56] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at Debben."You know shop owners usually have more information for that kinda thing anyway"
[2023/01/30 15:56] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "One hopes. Just don't look like an easy mark."
[2023/01/30 15:57] Alicia Frakture: Leesha nods and begins walking out the door.
[2023/01/30 15:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: The Archmages' directions are fairly accurate; it takes only two attempts to locate an exit, and there you are, out in the street. It looks like organized chaos, with peasants going about their business, carts rattling by, jugglers and bards entertaining the crowds for copper coins, kids running about, tradespeople shouting out their wares - and a surprisingly large number of people in various robes, some offering various deities' favours.

[Yeah, I was thinking of other settings where 'minor' demons aren't actually a thing at all and Ridcully was doing the 'Archmage completely detatched from power scaling reality' thing.]
[2023/01/30 16:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: Leesha gets a fair bit of discreet attention, and a few vendors cluster around offering various items, and kids curious about this green-skinned one. Debben doesn't get -quite- so much attention, as a vendor tries to convince Leesha to buy an ornate dagger, which he swears is silver.

[2023/01/30 16:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: "It's best used sparingly, for that very reason! Use only on werewolves and similar creatures, you'll thank me then! Only three gold pieces!"
[2023/01/30 16:02] Alicia Frakture: Leesha smiles and is friendly to the kids but as the vendor brings the dagger she draws her wrench and smacks the heavy end into her palm" I'm good."
[2023/01/30 16:03] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Ah, but will that work on werewolves too, my friend?" asks the vendor. Meanwhile, a man in robe sidles over to Debben, and pauses. "Say, you look like someone I know. Is that you, Debben?"
[2023/01/30 16:03] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I'd be more interested in something i can use from a distance."
[2023/01/30 16:04] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Huh?" She turns to the robed man, does -she recognize him?
[2023/01/30 16:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: Time to roll the d12... and roll d100 too...

[2023/01/30 16:05] Alicia Frakture: Leesha smirks."Werewolf or puppy, smack 'em on the nose hard enough they learn the lesson, also the hilt on that dagger is seriously small. Might be best if you save it for humans, dwarves etc. Thank you though." *Considering her size her hand would be big comparatively.*
[2023/01/30 16:08] Sonja Bikergrrl: The vendor is about to say something, but then looks surprised at what is going on behind Leesha. The robed man narrows his eyes. "It IS you! I thought so! I'm really sorry about this, but I got a wife and kids and the reward on your head will see them kept for another month..." He tosses his robe aside and draws a short sword, and lunges at Debben. The shock is slight, luckily; the sword, however, not so slight. Equally luckily, the sword just grazes past Debben.
[2023/01/30 16:09] Alicia Frakture: *How close is this to Leesha?*
[2023/01/30 16:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: Close enough for you to both act now.
[2023/01/30 16:11] Alicia Frakture: Leesha has her wrench out already she she tries to bonk the robed guy to knock him down, but not do serious damage. "Friend of yours?"
[2023/01/30 16:13] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben gasps at the sight of steel aimed at her, mind flashing through the possible options she could do, and then settles on the loudest, girliest scream her dwarven lungs can give in order to summon the nearest guards. "Thief!" She adds, trying to back away, doing her best impression of a helpless damsel while also looking around for anything she might use to defend herself.

[ Actually, did they take away my spear back in the castle? ]

[2023/01/30 16:14] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben holds her spear defensively, intending to parry sword swings in that case.
[2023/01/30 16:14] Alicia Frakture: *Er 3 + 2 to damage = 5*
[2023/01/30 16:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: The man looks rather unhappy at the change in odds; he was clearly relying on surprise. Far too much, as it turns out... the people scatter as he hefts his sword, grimacing at the screams that bring city guards running. Before he can act, Leeshas' wrench smacks into him - hard - a "lucky" hit that kills him completely. He's dead before he even hits the cobblestones; several guards arrive from all directions. "What's going on here? You're under arrest!"
[2023/01/30 16:18] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "This man was trying to rob me!" She answers back, breaking out into tears on command, "He threatened me with a longknife!"
[2023/01/30 16:18] Alicia Frakture: Leeshas eyes bulge at that."No! I was just trying to knock him out!" She kneels down."Come on you jerk don't be dead!" She doesn't even hear the guards."Come on you attacked my friend, but you had a wife and kids wake up!"
[2023/01/30 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: Heh. This looks like quite the cliffhanger to end on - it's rather late, I just realized
[2023/01/30 16:20] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: What will happen next time in the adventures of Leesha and Debben? Will the guards belive their story? What is going on with the time stream? Will the archmage satisfy his sweet tooth?"
